Should i get coilovers or lowering springs?
I plan on lowering my car both for looks and for performance handling purposes.
If i get lowering springs, i would probably need new shocks as well to compensate for the lowered ride height, so this would mean the price difference between installing the springs and a decent set of coilovers isnt much at all. Also, there are no options for aftermarket shocks for my car, so i would have to keep using the OEM ones and they are likely to wear every 20000 miles and need replacing if they are run at the lowered ride height.
Would i save more money in the long run getting coilovers (in the fact i wouldnt have to keep rebuying shocks every 20000 miles) or is the ride going to be too harsh with these. I fully intend to get the least stiff spring rate on the coilovers too.

Skyline GTST Fitting Suspension Coilovers
My skyline needed new suspension, took me a while to decide whether to get D2 Coilovers or Bor Chuann (BC) Coilovers. I went with the BC set up, because its a softer ride, seen as I do alot of road miles I wanted the comfort, but if you turn the dampers to hard, Its as still as a board!! So it should be good on the track too! Unfortunatly the camera blow over on the fitting of the last shock……

Lowering springs or Coilovers??
Okay.. So I bought some Coilovers for my car not knowing how f**king EXPENSIVE it would be just to have them installed!
My cousin who knows lots about cars and has installed lowering kits in t he past told me that it’s alot harder to install coilovers than it is to install lowering springs.
So if I were to take it to a professional shop.. would it be CHEAPER to have lowering springs installed??
They wanted to charge me $200 to have the coilovers installed.
How much should I be expecting to spend on having LOWERING SPRINGS installed???
***It was explained to me that coilovers where more difficult because more things had to be removed and replaced like the something hat of the strut. EXPLAIN EXPLAIN EXPLAIN! Thanks!
*********And different tools are needed to install coilovers? Like air compressed tools?
Coilovers from a Civic to a Corolla?
I need new springs in the back because my stock springs rub against the tires on my 18 inch rims now because the suspension is too soft. I want aftermarket suspension but I spent so much on new struts so I don’t want that all to go to waste, but I found these coilover springs in a junkyard and I wanted to know if they would fit. They are on an older model Honda Civic and they have the struts and springs and all and I was wondering if I could have the junkyard workers take it off for me and then I would take it to a mechanic to have them put on. Someone told me lowering springs have to be specifically for your car, but he said coilovers (The adjustable ones) are basically universal and will fit most cars of the same type (for example if it were on a civic, it would fit a similar japanese car such as a corolla). I dont know anything about this so somebody please fill me in and let me know if I can do this. I rolled my fenders and its still rubbing and I don’t want to go out and have new soft stock springs put on that will just do the same thing, and plus theres a gap between the tires and the car body in the front, so it would look nicer if I could lower it and eliminate that gap. So let me know if this will work
If you read what I wrote then you would know why I’m not sticking with stock; the suspension is too soft stock and my tires rub, that’s why I need tighter aftermarket springs.
i need help with ground control coilovers for 98 civic?
my friend had a set of ground control and tokico illumina installed on his 98 civic coupe but something just seems wrong. The passenger side was higher than the driver side, so we adjusted the height of the coilovers on the back passenger side but the problem but nothing changed. we adjust it to the top of the rings which made the passengers side much higher and still uneven, then we adjust it all the way down to the bottom of the ring and then it kinda even out. but the problem is that on the driver side, the coilover ring is adjusted to the top and on the passengers side the ring is adjusted to the bottom, which should make the springs uneven but but they’re kinda even…which makes no sense.
we took it to the shop and see if they could do something but they don’t talk any English and they don’t even know what they’re doing either.
i personally think they put the springs on wrong because the back passenger side coilovers look shorter than the back driver side coils.
Which aftermarket Coilovers Suspension is better?
I’m not sure if people on Y-answers knows much about import tuning but i’ll asked anyway. I have a 2000 toyota celica gt-s and I want to buy a coilover suspension for my ride. I am looking at Tien Basics that cost about 800 bucks or 900 bucks and KW V-1 for 1100 dollars or so. I don’t track my car. It is just for leasure riding on normal streets. I heard KW coilovers are better but should i safe money and get the tien basics cus its a lot cheaper?
Modding 1998 audi a4, coilovers, springs, and suspension help?
im going to mod my 98 a4. i only wanted to drop it about 1.25″ so i dont know whether or not to invest in a coilover kit or just to get shocks and springs.
i drive normal in southern california. i don’t race or go crazy off road bumps. but i do want to have a ride that will not be OVERLY sensitive to little bumps on the road and such. like for example, my sister had a honda civic and she lowered it. when we drove it, it was REALLY bumpy. i felt like every bump we went over was hitting my ass, literally. i wanted a suspension that could drop my ride about 1.25″ inches and still be able to offer stability and comfort while driving. i understand it won’t be perfectly stable but that is why i am asking if i should invest in the entire coilover system which costs over 1000 dollars or just get springs and shocks. comfort and stability is my main concern. not racing/ maneuverability.
i also didn’t want a drastic lowered vehicle due to me saving up for 18 or 19 inch rims as well. so i am trying not to exceed 1.25 inches -1.5 inches. ive seen 19’s on a slammed audi before so i know itll work. which brings me to another question. do coilover suspension systems come with springs , coils, and shocks. etc..
Also, will i have to buy the coilovers/ springs & shocks before taking it to the mechanic or do i get it through them? also how much would installation be?
other than that, i should be done with the ride. maybe get some nice halo headlights HIDs. and maybe a paint job.
best answer gets 10 points,
What would be better for lowering my car? Custom Springs or Coilovers?
I have been wanting to lower my car for several months now.. But every time I ask around what why to drop it would be better I always get different answers… So coilovers or springs

Should i get NEX Coilovers?
I’m thinking about getting these coilovers for my 240sx. I don’t plan on drifting everyday, maybe just once in a while. has anybody ever used them? or knows anyone who has them? Whats the ride quality like? bumpy? smooth?
